TerreStar-1 and -2 are designed to enable two-way communications to small mobile devices.  These Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) satellites will have a service life of at least 15 years.  Each satellite has a state-of-the-art MSS payload featuring a large unfurlable reflector. The satellites will generate hundreds of spot beams covering the Continental U.S., Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These satellites will be the most powerful and capable commercial MSS satellites ever built.
