SS/L built these three high-capacity direct-broadcast services satellites for PanAmSat Corporation. The PAS-6 satellite was launched in 1997 and is one of the most powerful broadcast satellites ever built. It provides DTH television service to the entire continent of South America. PAS-7 and PAS-8, both launched in 1998, are optimized for next-generation digital traffic.
