| MTSAT-1R
is a multifunctional transport satellite built for the Ministry of
Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) to serve the Japan Civil
Aviation Bureau & Meteorological Agency. This advanced geostationary
satellite plays a critical role in Japan's next generation of
satellite-enhanced air

replaced MTSAT-1, which was destroyed in a launch failure in 1999. MTSAT-1R launched in February 2005. |
