Opportunities in Electrical Engineering

The scope of Electrical Engineering opportunities at Space Systems/ Loral embraces everything from research and development to general and highly specialized topics. You will participate in the design and development of spacecraft equipment, which includes designing electronics able to perform in the rigorous space environment while providing maximum reliability, minimum power consumption, and minimum weight. Detailed electronic analysis is required to ensure that designs will perform in the vacuum environment of space, over wide temperature ranges, and for the life of the spacecraft. In addition, you will support manufacturing and test as well as the efforts of mechanical engineers.

Communications Engineering: Conceptualizes the design of spacecraft communications systems and is directly involved in the design of UHF through K-band electronics hardware. Special emphasis is placed on information theory, signal propagation, RF modulation techniques, and high frequency electronic design.

Microwave Engineering: Designs and analyzes the performance of satellite communication systems from concept through hardware implementation. Included in the design of these systems are satellite antennas for reception and transmission of satellite signals using the latest materials technology for switched and shaped beam components; microwave multiplexers and filters utilized to separate communication channels within the satellite; and active microwave electronic components, such as receivers, transmitters synthesizers, and power amplifiers used for satellite signal processing.

Controls Engineering: Designs and develops systems associated with maintaining the spacecraft attitude, telemetry systems, spacecraft command and control, and spacecraft computer systems. This includes fault tolerant processors and interface electronics associated with attitude control sensors and attitude control actuators; software/firmware for real-time multiprocessor embedded systems (software development utilizes high level structured language, such as Ada, Pascal, and "C"); telemetry/command equipment, including bit detectors, encrypter/decrypters, telemetry encoders, and digital signal processing electronics. Controls Engineers are also involved in the design, synthesis, and test of the attitude control subsystem, including defining requirements for the subcontract items, such as sensors (sun sensors, earth sensors, and gyros) and actuators (momentum and reaction wheels).

In addition, electrical engineers in the above areas are responsible for the design and development of automatic tests for the production of flight electronics. Emphasis is placed on skills associated with digital design, software, and analog control systems.

To fill the Electrical Engineering positions in the areas listed above; Space Systems/Loral is seeking candidates with either a BSEE or an MSEE.

Space Systems/Loral is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Space Systems/Loral has export control and security issues that require attention to the citizenship status of every individual who performs work on its behalf. All jobs at Space Systems/Loral require that the employee either be a United States Citizen, a Permanent Resident of the United States, an Asylee, or a Refugee.
