In 2003, he received the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation's lifetime achievement award for his leadership in the satellite industry and his creative engineering and management role in the design and launch of more than 170 satellites. In 1999 he was named a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), an honor bestowed on distinguished individuals who have demonstrated strong leadership and made contributions to the aerospace field. In 1996, he received the AAIA's Aerospace Communications Award, presented for outstanding contributions in the field of aerospace communications.
Mr. Berry was previously president of SS/L from 1990 until 1999. He had served as general manager of Ford Aerospace's Space Systems Division from 1977 to 1990, when it was acquired by Loral.
Mr. Berry earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Science School of Manhattan College and a Master's degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
