John Celli, president of Space Systems/Loral, is a satellite industry veteran of more than 28 years of experience. Previously, Mr. Celli served as executive vice president where he was responsible for all aspects of SS/L operations. Prior to this, as senior vice president engineering, manufacturing, & test operations, he led the organization responsible for the development, manufacturing, testing and procurement of all units and subsystems for the satellites manufactured and delivered by SS/L. During this time he was also in charge of SS/L's materiel, information systems and facilities organizations. From 1996 to 2001, Mr. Celli was executive director of SS/L's Intelsat IX program where he led the successful development and delivery of seven advanced multi-frequency communication satellites. From 1981 to 1996, Mr. Celli held various engineering and management positions at SS/L, assuming management duties of increasing responsibility along the way. Before joining SS/L in 1981, Mr. Celli held design and management positions for space and ground systems at Alenia S.P.A. (Rome, Italy). From 1973 to 1980, he was an assistant professor of machine design on the Faculty of Engineering, University of Rome. Mr. Celli holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Rome, Italy.
