Engineering, Manufacturing, and Test Operations
Space Systems/Loral
Mr. Goodman has held management positions with SS/L and is a veteran with more than 20 years in the satellite industry. Since 2002, he served as SS/L’s executive director of bus subsystems operations. In this role, Mr. Goodman pioneered new bus technologies, which established SS/L as a premier provider of satellites worldwide. He was also responsible for development, design, manufacturing, assembly, and intricate testing of all spacecraft bus subsystems.
He joined SS/L in 1986, as a thermal engineer, and held various product management positions and increasingly important roles for specific bus subsystems within spacecraft engineering until he was named engineering director in 1998. From 1998 to 2002, he provided engineering and manufacturing for the following product lines: mechanical, thermal, mechanisms and propulsion, solar arrays and mechanisms.
Before joining SS/L, Mr. Goodman was a mechanical designer for the Biophysics Department at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory with design and manufacturing of experimental research equipment responsibilities.
Mr. Goodman holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of California, Berkeley.
